Summary

On a new episode of State of the Union, Alexi Lalas and David Mosse dive into a big weekend of topics and touch on Pulisic’s winner in the Derby della Madonnina, Malik Tillman’s Bundesliga brilliance, and Tim Weah's Ligue 1 goalazo. Over in England, Chris Richards’ manager can’t seem to decide if the U.S. plays him too much—or not enough—and Jedi Robinson’s absence lingers. We hit the MLS Cup Playoffs where Messi made more history, NYCFC snuck past Philly, and Vancouver outlasted LAFC in a wild match. In #AskAlexi we field questions including “who is the real leader for the USMNT?” And in One For The Road, we ponder a question about next summer's World Cup: why isn't Washington, D.C. a host city? I think it's completely fair and justified to put him as the best player in Sidiya. I think that there is a continued audition for who is going to be the leadership next summer. I want the best version of Giorana come next summer.

We look at the beautiful game on and off the field through the lens of red, white, and blue colored glasses. Soccer Town, Ken Burns, Liverpool Disaster, Iran, OG Soccer Moms, and so much more. But first, join me as always my friend, my

extraordinary. Mossie, how are you doing on this? Let's see what we got here. Monday, November 24th, in the year 2025.

1:13.3

I'm doing well. A little nervous, though, considering the guests we have in the studio today.

1:17.3

Yes, this is a surprise for everyone. For those that have listened and watched over the years,

1:22.9

you know that we have talked about my mother, an OG soccer mom, if you will,

1:28.8

and she is in town for the holidays here for Thanksgiving.

1:32.1

So I said, hey, let's bring her on over

1:34.1

because also let's be honest,

1:35.9

I think she talks more to you.

1:37.7

And I think she even reveres you in a way

1:40.7

that she doesn't her first born over here,

1:43.1

especially for the information when it

1:45.1

comes to what you're watching, what you're reading, all that kind of stuff. But yes, she is in studio.

1:49.4

She is watching us. So if I mess up, it's only because of the nervousness that one feels

1:55.0

performing in front of, you know, someone that's so important to them.

1:58.8

Speaking of what I've been watching, I've had revolution on the brain. I finished the Ken Burns' six-part documentary on the American Revolution. Absolutely love that. I can't wait to hear your thoughts. And also, I just read a fantastic book on the Iranian Revolution called King of King. So two different revolutions, 200 years apart. That's what I've been focusing on the last few days.

2:18.1

Oh, and we had talked to, uh, did we talk later, or last time about Argo, uh, you know, the movie, uh, with Ben Affleck and stuff. It's so good. It's still so good. It's one of those that if it's there, I will, I will turn it on. Um, okay, so I did, I started to watch the Ken Burns and then I realize that I want to kind of

2:34.7

I know it's a lot of hours

2:36.7

but I want to, I Ken Burns, and then I realized that I want to kind of, I know it's a lot of hours, but I don't want to be beholden. I don't want to worry about having to go someplace else. I know it's done, so I'm going to watch it start to finish, but I had to stop almost immediately. I said, this deserves my full attention. It was going to get my full attention. So I will hold off on that, but I will definitely tell you what's going on. Um, Mosse, two things that I want to mention. There is a, I guess it
