Several years ago, my wife was helping direct a musical for fourth graders, and one girl

in the class was assigned a solo.

She was painfully shy, but she promised everyone that she was up to the task.

The night of the performance, she stepped into the spotlight and just transformed.

She sang with a talent no one had heard in rehearsal.

She sang beyond her ability.

It was beautiful and brought everyone to their feet.

As her eyes filled with tears, you could see that even she was surprised as everyone else

was.

At night, she had discovered a gift even she didn't know she had.

So was anyone ever thanked you for something you knew you couldn't take credit for?

Well this meditation from 1 Peter 4 is about gifts, talents not of your own, but abilities

that are given to you by God and for his glory.

So begin your meditation by finding a place to be alone, still and quiet.

A retreat to become aware and settle into a posture now with your hands open to receive

all that you become aware of.

Be aware of all of the divine gifts the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit have to offer
