The visit to Israel by the US Vice President J.D. Vance is seen as an attempt by the Americans

to keep the Gaza ceasefire on track amid reported concerns that the Israeli Prime Minister,

Benjamin Nessoniyahu, wants to collapse the agreement and restart the fighting.

Despite an outbreak of violence on Sunday, the U.S. Vice President said he was optimistic the truth would hold.

And arriving for a meeting with the Israeli Prime Minister in Jerusalem, he said the U.S. was determined to stay the course.

As the Prime Minister said, these are days of destiny.

We have a very tough task ahead of us, which is to disarm Hamas, but rebuild Gaza, to make life better for the people in Gaza, but also to ensure that Hamas is no longer a threat to our friends in Israel. even in the past 24 hours had a lot of good conversations with our friends in the Israeli government,
