This week, the Supreme Court heard oral arguments in United States v. Scrametti, where the court

is poised to either strike down or uphold Tennessee's ban on trans care for people under 18.

This is a case we've been watching closely because it's likely to set a precedent with the court

that affects not just the ban in Tennessee, but in the 26 other states

that have some form of law restricting youth access to transition. While we won't know the decision

for several months, the oral arguments in the current makeup of the court certainly make it look

like the court may leave the ban in place. So today, we have a very special episode for you

on the Scermetti case. A few months back, Death Panel's own

Jules Gil Peterson co-authored an amicus brief submitted in the case, trying to demonstrate to

the court that there is a long history of youth transition and that despite pervasive fear-mongering,

trans kids are not new, transition treatments are not what you could call experimental, and

transition itself is anything but dangerous.

And back in September, in an episode for Death Panel Patrons, B and Jules talked through Jules' brief,

the case, and the long history of trans children. So today we're unlocking that episode.
