The Pentagon says about 140 U.S. service members have been injured since the start of the war with Iran,

including eight who've been seriously wounded.

Seven U.S. service members have been killed in action.

Today, White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt said President Donald Trump doesn't rule out options

that include U.S. troops on the ground.

She says Trump will determine when Iran is in a place of unconditional surrender.

What the president means is that Iran's threats will no longer be backed by a ballistic missile arsenal

that protects them from building a nuclear

bomb in their country. I could make an empty threat, but if I have no actions to back it up,

then it's an empty threat. Leavitt also says the Pentagon will release a report on a strike that

hit a girl school in southern Iran last month, killing at least 168 children and 14 teachers.

According to CNN in evidence analyzed by experts, the U.S. military was likely responsible.

Trump is blamed Iran, but the White House said the president will accept the conclusion of the

investigation, whatever it may be.

Leavitt also insisted that the war will lower gas prices in the long term, despite a recent

surge in energy

costs around the globe. But it comes as two sources tell CNN Iran has started laying mines

in the Strait of Hormuz, a critical oil shipping lane. Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard

Corps had warned that any ship passing through the strait would be attacked. The strait has

effectively been closed
