promised to end the war within a day if he became US.S. president. But having failed to extract any major

concessions from Russia, Mr. Trump has recently been showing growing signs of frustration,

and this week again blamed Ukraine for starting the war. Now his top diplomat, Marco Rubio,

has warned that if there isn't real progress soon, America will simply walk away.

This despite Ukraine taking the first step towards signing a controversial minerals deal with the US.

After a day of talks in Paris with European leaders, Mr. Rubio sounded this warning.

So we came here yesterday to try to figure out very soon, and I'm talking about a matter of days, not a matter of weeks, whether or not this is the war that can be ended.

If it can, we're prepared to do whatever we can to facilitate that and make sure that it happens, that it ends in a durable and just way.
