It is day five, and there have been many political and strategic developments.

In Iran, the senior clerics are choosing a new supreme leader,

with rumours that Ayatollah Khamenei's son might get it.

The Israeli defence minister says, no matter who's chosen, he'll be an unequivocal target for elimination.

In Washington, J.D. Vance has spoken about one war aim,

destroying Iran's nuclear capability. His boss, the president, has spoken of another,

getting a U.S. friendly government in Iran. Day 5 military developments. Iran is still

attacking targets in Israel, U.S. bases, Gulf countries, Turkey, but many of its missiles are being

brought down by anti-missile systems. Israel has widened its airstrikes. The U.S. has sunk an Iranian

warship off Sri Lanka, and U.S. Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, was speaking in Washington

earlier today. The results have been incredible.

Historic, really.

Only the United States of America could lead this, only us. But when you add the Israeli defense forces, a devastatingly capable force, the

combination is sheer destruction for our radical Islamist Iranian adversaries.

They are toast and they know it, or at least soon enough, they will know it. And amidst all this the question, what's happening in Iran itself?

The UN says around 100,000 people fled Tehran in the first two days of war. Shayan Zadari Zadee from BBC Verify has been
