Tomorrow is the big day that some of you have been looking forward to. Others have been dreading and some are just

looking forward to getting it over. I'm talking about election day here in the United States of America.

And we have Dr. David K. Bernard with us to talk about how this election affects Christians

and how we should approach the election. Dr. Bernard, it's great to have you.

It's great to be here. Well, you've talked a lot about elections and Christians, how Christians

should respond to elections. So I want to ask you today, obviously there's a big election tomorrow.

Voters in the United States are going to the polls to select the next president of the United

States. You've talked

about stewardship and a lot of people are asking, why should I bother voting? So people in some

states, including my home state, we already know, I could tell you without question who's going to

win in my state tomorrow. So there's probably people in my state and people

in my situation who are asking, why should I even bother voting? How would you respond to that question?

Let me take a big view and then a more restrictive view. First of all, we should care about our

nation. That is biblical. If you look at the Old Testament, the Psalms told Israel,

pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Even when the Israelites were in exile in Jeremiah 29, it said

to pray for the peace of the city where you are. Peace in Hebrew, Shalom, means wholeness, health, much more than just a peaceful

relationships, but the preservation, health, and well-being of the community. So we should care about

the community, the city, the country that we're a part of. And we do find examples in both

Testaments of people who are godly people who are involved

in secular, even pagan governments. So you have Joseph, you have Daniel, Shadrach, Meshaq, Abednego,

you have Esther. In the New Testament, you had the Roman dictatorship, the Roman Empire oversaw the tiny nation of Israel or Palestine,
