It's Monday, August 5th, and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update.

The Olympics continue in Paris today.

As of this afternoon, the U.S. has won over 75 metals, 20 of them gold.

Daily Wire Senior Editor Joel Needler has more.

Simone Biles won silver in her final day of competition in the floor exercises,

but was shut out on balance beam after falling during her routine.

Still, the pint-sized powerhouse will end the Paris games with

four medals, three golds, and one silver. The U.S. swim team wrapped up their final

day of competition in the pool with a pair of gold medals and world records to boot.

Long-distance freestyler Bobby Fink delivered the first of two gold medals in the

1500 meter freestyle and a new record time. The men's 4 by 100 medley relay team took the silver medal, which was the only time other than the

1980 boycott of the Moscow Olympics that a US men's team has not taken the gold in that event.

The games concluded on another high for Team USA as the

women's medley relay team took the gold by a decisive margin and set another world

record in the process.

Debbie has been downgraded from a hurricane to a tropical storm, but not before the storm

claimed four people's lives.

Three people lost their lives in accidents attributed to the storm and one boy was killed when a tree fell on his mobile home.

The storm system touched down on Florida's Gulf Coast early this morning were dumping rain caused

catastrophic flooding. At least 300,000 people have lost power in Florida.

Debbie is expected to drop as much as two feet of rain in Georgia and South Carolina
