It was another tense day in the ongoing back and forth between the U.S. and Iran, after the U.S.

submitted its latest proposal for an end to the war, which was started by the U.S. and Israeli strikes on Tehran in late February.

CNN's Jeremy Diamond has more.

We know that the United States fired on two Iranian-flagged oil tankers

that were attempting to bypass the U.S.'s blockade of Iranian ports,

according to U.S. Central Command.

Iranian media, for its part, described what's happening in the strait as a, quote,

limited exchange of fire. And for now, it seems like neither side is eager to end this ceasefire

and to see a return to all-out war. Meanwhile, a hardline Iranian lawmaker is threatening what

he called a military response to U.S. naval blockade activity.

And Hezbollah says it carried out an attack on an Israeli military base.

It's the first time the Iranian-backed militant group has publicly claimed responsibility

for a cross-border strike since the Israel-Lebanon ceasefire was declared in mid-April.
