A few weeks ago, many analysts were absolutely convinced that the U.S. was about to hit Iran with the military strike.

This wouldn't be the first, of course, the Trump administration

has shown its willingness to engage last year when it hit Iran's nuclear facilities. Iran's key nuclear

enrichment facilities have been completely and totally obliterated. Iran, the bully of the Middle

East, must now make peace. But the question here was whether President Trump was eyeing something even bigger.

Could he be trying to harness this moment of dissent in Iran to usher in regime change?

Eventually, something flipped.

The White House began saying it was getting encouraging signs from the Iranians that didn't need to strike.

We yesterday, with Ramadan about to begin, diplomats from Iran and the U.S.

arrived in Switzerland ready to talk.
