This Team USA gold medal train keeps running. And, you know, I made sure that I got to MSG at 630 last night because I was curious, you know, with Danico and Rup and Rachel Herzog doing the pregame. And then I knew Don and Danico late. I wanted to see how they were going to respond and what they were going to do. And I thought they did it right. And it was really fun. And Jack Hughes was another moment in front of his own fans. You know, I could be a real jerk and just say, oh, I didn't realize the devils were playing last night. They're not the Nets. But you do know that I knew that they were playing last night because I was asking you, because we didn't know, but then we checked on it and we saw that both Jack Hughes and Tage Thompson of the Buffalo Sabres were going to play in this game.

And but then we checked on it and we saw we saw that both jack ews and tage thompson of the buffalo sabers were going to play in this game and i i think i think that i have gold metal fever

0:46.2

i don't know what it is you like jack use it's the only way that i can explain why i would

0:51.3

have turned on msg to watch this and the beginning of the game as well,

0:55.2

because I've never done that before unless, of course, they're playing the Rangers.

0:58.5

And, yes, I had to listen to Donnie and Kenny, and I thought it was amazing last night.

1:05.4

I thought Jack bringing Tage Thompson on the ice with him was a tremendous job by him and unselfish. But that's the hockey nature. That's the hockey culture. We know that. And we've been around hockey for all these years. And I have to say, man, gave me chills. Just gave me chills listening to him, you know, saying thank you to the fans for all the support, listening to the national anthem, of course, because we're also patriotic around this

1:28.0

team. And I have to say that, yeah, I did watch it. And of course, Tage Thompson scores a goal.

1:33.7

Of course. Because, you know, that's just the way it works. And he probably would have done

1:37.6

the same thing at Madison Square Garden. So tonight it is Madison Square Garden's turn to salute

1:43.0

the gold medal players in Benny Trochecheck and J.T. Miller,

1:47.6

who did get back at 2 a.m. and were on the ice yesterday, by the way, with their teammates,

1:52.5

they felt like that was really important. And, of course, the coaching staff that coached the U.S. men's team to gold medal.

1:58.7

So, yeah, I mean, why not basking it?

2:00.9

That's what it's all about and celebrate the players that accomplished something that hadn't been done in 46 years. And you mentioned Thompson, and they clearly had something planned for him to go out there for the ceremonial puck drop, but I thought it was very cool that Hughes went over on his own and brought him out for the state. If you're the visiting player, you're there and you're not sure how things are going.

2:19.0

And I'm sure they spoke to him before the game that this was going to happen. And it was just great. It was great. And watching The Devils fans, you know, serenade, you know, obviously an American hero for scoring that goal, was great. It was absolutely great. And the kid is humble. You know, I think he's also, he's probably a little bit embarrassed by all the attention, I would

2:37.9

think, but, you know, he's humble.

2:40.4

Like, that's the beauty of the hockey player, is that they recognize that they don't get

2:45.0

it done without the other guys on the team.

2:47.8

And in this case for the U.S. men's hockey team, and I could say the same for the U.S. women's hockey team. Their goalies were incredible throughout the Olympic tournament. So yeah, that was great last night. It really was. It's funny when we look back and you mentioned the other day how the radio station put the photo out in the interview of me and Gio with Jack Hughes six years ago. He was 18, 19 years old, whatever he was. And you look at the photo, and I remember you telling me when you came in after a couple days after that, you're like, you guys got a guy that's going to be like a killer. Like he is going to be a great player. I remember like, this kid, I remember thinking like he's younger than my son, like, or you know, he's about the same age as my my son he looks like he's in eighth grade and he has turned out to be everything that you've said he would well first yeah well first and foremost you know his parents deserve a lot of credit uh for raising three boys uh that are all nchl players and quin use is one of the best players in the nchal i didn't realize how good his brother was you know you see you see him every now and again. Not a, not a. Because he was out in Vancouver. Now he gets

3:43.8

traded in Minnesota. And then, of course, now comes the Olympics. And you get to see some of the things that his brother Quinn is able to do. So you could see. And Luke, too, by the way, is a really good player too. I mean, so the parents first and foremost deserve all the credit.

3:58.1

Their mom was a great hockey player in our own right and she is a really good player too. I mean, so the parents, first and foremost, deserve all the credit.
