Summary

Voters will soon decide who will be the next President of the United States, with healthcare – both the Coronavirus response and health coverage in general - being one of the most important issues. We'll hear from one American cancer survivor who lost their coverage during the crisis, and the director of a Missouri hospital on the challenges they've faced during the pandemic. Then, Julie Rovner of Kaiser Health News explains the current state of US healthcare and the differences between candidates Trump and Biden on the future of it. Though Doug Badger of the Heritage Foundation cautions that those pressing for universal healthcare in the US will be under served by a Biden presidency.

in the United States is more likely to come on an evolutionary basis rather than on a

revolutionary basis.

I had cancer last year, and I was just right as the pandemic set in was when all of my one-year checkups were due to happen. And so

1:14.7

that was a big concern. After my surgery, I was told that most likely I will have a recurrence

1:22.3

of the cancer. And the biggest part of making sure that I do okay is being vigilant with screening and watching things.

1:31.7

And so not only do I lose my job, I'm getting calls from the hospital saying, well, we're going to have to push these appointments.

1:39.7

That was a scary part of it as well.

1:42.6

Have you had any of those screenings? Have you had any of those screenings?

1:44.5

Have you had any of those checkups to check on your cancer to see if it's okay?

1:48.5

No.

1:49.8

No, I haven't been able to do that.
