0:40.9	Yeah, so this is hot off the presses. So we just got worried about an hour ago before this recording.
0:47.4	But the FDA commissioner and Marty McCary and his advisor, Vignay Prasad, unveiled a major shift in U.S. COVID vaccine policy.
0:58.3	So this is just focused on COVID.
1:00.3	They dropped a New England general medicine perspective piece, as well as did a live FDA event, like fireside chat about this.
1:08.8	Basically, what they're doing is COVID-19 vaccines will now only be
1:12.9	recommended for people over 65 or at least with one chronic conditions. If manufacturers want to
1:21.5	offer vaccines to younger adults or pregnant women, they have to run a new placebo-controlled trial. And it sounds like before
1:30.7	each season that this virus changes. Their reasoning was because there's more population-level
1:39.7	immunity right now, and the original trials basically no longer apply. Now, on the surface, right,
1:49.2	this sounds like a reasonable reevaluation, right? After all, severe COVID is less common
1:55.6	and healthy young people. There are legitimate questions, right, whether we need annual boosters and if they're still
2:03.1	recommended and needed for everyone. But I'll be honest. Like, what's really troubling to me is
2:10.0	what's more below the surface, that this is completely bypassing rigorous transparent systems
