There's violence in Northern Kosovo as ethnic Albania mayors are forcibly installed in majority

serve areas. We have the latest from the region. Russian officials say parts of a region bordering

Ukraine have come under heavy bond barbments and thousands of weird and wonderful species have

been discovered in a previously untouched part of the Pacific Ocean. The lollipop like ping pong

sponge, the squishy slime star and the gummy squirrel which resembles a jelly sweet.

Also in his podcast, allegations the Venezuelan government is paying members of the public to

tweet propaganda and how a new world record was set for transporting a heart for transplant.

We start in Kosovo where there have been ugly scenes between police and

serve protesters in a suburb of Mitrovicia.

The demonstrators were angry that ethnic Albania mayors were being installed

in majority serve areas in the north. The US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken accused Kosovo's

government of escalating tensions. I heard more from our Balkans correspondent Gajdelaune.

We've had three ethnic Albanian mayors who have been inaugurated in majority serve parts of

north Kosovo and during the day the authorities in Kosovo, i.e. the authorities from

Prishtina decided they wanted those mayors to enter the municipal buildings in the municipalities

for which they are now mayors. Local people objected to that and in some cases blocked the

entrance of the mayors into those municipal buildings and then that did indeed generate into some

violent scenes. Police intervened, tear gas was fired and the mayors eventually were

escorted into the buildings by the police. But these mayors were elected back in April,

that's correct and they were elected in elections which were to be fair controversial.
