The Department of Defense has been authorized by the Trump administration to take control of nearly

110,000 acres of land along the southern border in order to seal the U.S.-Mexico border. Meanwhile,

there's been a lot of news about Defense Secretary Pete Hegeseth with even calls for him to step

down. President Donald Trump has now spoken out about this.

And in other news, the White House has made some big changes to the government's COVID-19 website.

The Department of Defense has been given permission to take 110,000 acres of land along the U.S.-Mexico border.

And this not only allows the United States broader control over border security, it could

also result in additional criminal charges against illegal immigrants.

Now, a key part of what's now taking place was started by an April 11th presidential memorandum.

This was declared as a military mission for sealing the southern border of the United States and repelling invasion.

Let me show you what it says.

It says, our southern border is under attack from a variety of threats.

The complexity of the current situation requires that our military take a more direct role in securing our southern border than in the recent past.

Now, Trump notes that on January 20th, he had signed another executive order.

An important part is how these interrelate.

January 20th, he signed clarifying the military's role in protecting the territorial integrity

of the United States. And using that,

he was able to assign the U.S. military on a mission to repel what he said is an invasion of the

United States. Now, this latest presidential action builds on the previous one. And what it

does is it gives additional guidance and other things.
