The U.S. Special Envoy in the Middle East has said that the United States has joined Israel

in withdrawing from Gaza peace talks in Qatar with Hamas.

Steve Whitkoff said alternative options would now be considered to bring Israel's hostages home.

He did not say what alternative options these were.

Mr. Whitkoff himself has been in Italy for discussions with Israeli and Qatari officials.
