everybody's listening in the morning. Jill, how was your holiday? Holiday is, I should say.

It was great. Lots of family time. And you know what? June 10th is a new federal holiday.

And as you've been talking about on the Instagram feed and we put out a special podcast about it.

More businesses this year than last year and certainly than the year before are giving their

workers off to celebrate. Yes, as a federal holiday, it's our newest one, the first one since

MLK day in the 80s. So it's only three years old about, according to the latest numbers, 40%

of private businesses gave their employees off pay time off on it. But you should know that

technically as a private business, you're not obligated to give your employees pay time off

at for all holidays, which is something I learned. As people are asking about it in the last few

days, I heard from a number of Moan News listeners who said their businesses gave them a choice

between presence day and June 10th day. So bottom line, if you're a federal government employee,

you had it off. If you're a state government employee, just over half the states have officially

put into state law, I think it's 27 states plus DC. Private employers, you're about halfway there.

But it appears that are still kind of getting used to this holiday, especially in the context of

being a couple weeks before Independence Day, where they, you know, the vast majority of businesses

do give their employees off. And just a few weeks after Memorial Day. Right.
