0:33.5 | week's episode of Smackdown was the big tribute for Hulk Hogan who did pass away over the last few days. |
0:38.5 | We've got the 10 bell salute at the top of the aisle away. Triple H took the microphone and said some very kind words. I mean, I think that kind of summarises how big he was to the industry. I mean, not every wrestler is going to get that. And we also have this tribute package that reminded you that Hulk Hogan has basically been involved in everything. and here is where I will talk to you about my thoughts. |
0:37.3 | In fact, just to give it the gravitas I think it deserves, let's sit down. Because yes, wrestling as we know it today would not be the same without Hulk Hogan. He was the major reason for the boom in the 80s. He then did it again in the mid-90s. And even today, in 2025, if I meet someone and they don't watch wrestling, but they know that I like wrestling, who's the rest of they go to? They always mention Hulk Hogan. I mean, that is totally crazy, especially because he hasn't had like a match in 15 years, or even been in a ring doing something physical. And there's probably only a few people in the world you could say that in relation to their sports or their form of entertainment. So I understand the emotions and I understand the feelings. And if nothing else, when these things do go down, we as human beings do go a little bit introspective because we're getting older and our heroes are dying. That's going to do something to your brain. It's a lot to take him and it's a lot to process. That's just the truth of it. At the same time, If we are going to go through somebody's life, we can't just pick and choose the moments we want to discuss. And if we go back to the awful and controversial and abhorrent things that Hulk Hogan did say, especially because if we are to believe the word out there, he never truly apologize for them. Well, that is not something that I can just forget. And to be honest with you, as I sit here today, it's not just something that I can get over. I mean, the evidence is out there. You can go watch any of my videos from the last 10 years, and any time Hulk Hogan came up, I either tried to get through it very quickly because I'm a positive guy and don't really like to get into negative slagging matches, or I look right down the camera and I told you, Hulk Hogan isn't really for me anymore, |
2:19.8 | so let's just move on to the next bit. |
2:21.3 | So just try and sum it up a little bit better. |
2:23.3 | When Terry Belayer said those offensive things, my fandom for Hulk Hogan stop. |
2:27.3 | Like my entire premise, the whole way I see the world, is that it should be love and respect for all, |
2:31.3 | and we should be as nice as we can to each other because there's so many terrible things going on. So when he did do that, I mean, again, I'd just be honest with you, |
2:38.3 | I could never see him the same way again. Now, that doesn't mean that he was next level important |
2:42.1 | to pro wrestling. Like, imagine trying to tell the story of WWE slash the WWF without mentioning |
2:47.5 | him, you just have a big gap and it wouldn't make any sense. But again, this is not a cut and dry situation. You should feel multiple things, otherwise you wouldn't be an actual person. And on a personal level, I have lost people in my real life who I did not see eye to eye with. And I can tell you firsthand, you do go through a crazy gambit of emotions because you're sad they're gone because you had that relationship with them but then there's all this other stuff in your head when you think well they did this and they did that and we never really made peace with it it's complicated and that's why people keep using that word because if you sit down and you feel it yourself that's just where you get to you don't really know what to say so really for me as important as pro wrestling is in my life and it has given me this wonderful platform to have a job within it, and some could say, without what Hulk Hogan did, we wouldn't even get here to begin with. Well, I've said this on countless videos as well. Wrestling is the most important of the least important things, and it's just not as important to me as again, how I see the world and how I would like people to be, especially those I look up to. |
3:43.6 | So I basically see Hulk Hogan as a pioneer of the industry, but I see Terry Bollah as a complicated and controversial individual who held some really, really terrible views. |
3:52.6 | I'm not going to take shots to him now though either because he had a wife and he had children and he had family and they'll be going through their own thing as well. |
4:00.3 | And the last thing they need is some random board a hole on the internet throwing barbs their way when maybe they're going through it too. |
4:06.3 | One, they lost their father which can be one of the hardest things anybody has to go through. |
4:10.3 | And two, if they didn't see eye to eye with a man, just talked about it, |
4:15.0 | it makes it so damn confusing and it does funny stuff to your brain. So it goes back to the whole premise I just mentioned, respect for humans, and if you don't have anything nice to say, just don't say anything at all, and we can all just fade into the distance. Again, I'm not saying you can't have a conversation about this, but I do not think we need to make it insulting. |
