Today we're talking about a handful of updates on a couple brief topics.

Tesla stock on Friday did finish down 1.02 percent to $239.52, this compared to the NASDAQ up 0.08%.

The first topic I wanted to talk about today is short interest.

We got updated short interest numbers last week for the April 30th reporting date.

From the April 15th reporting date, short interest increased by almost 4.5 million shares

to roughly 37.9 million shares short in total.

That's a pretty big increase.

That's the biggest increase that we've seen between two reporting periods in at least the last 12 months and short interest in general

has been really spiking the last two months. We're up about 10 million shares

shorted from the end of February. It's also the highest number of shares that we've

seen shorted in about 11 months since last May.

As we've talked about in the past, higher short interest causes some added pressure on the stock.

Essentially those shares have to be bought twice.

So in addition to some of the institutional selling

that we've seen over the last quarter,

plus higher short interest,

it's not surprising to see the stock where it's at currently.

Unfortunately, I continue to not see a ton of upside in the short to medium term.

I think until Tesla is able to ease concerns about demand and ease concerns about profitability in terms of the margin
