We begin with breaking news of a plane crash in India, where officials say a Boeing 787 operated by Air India went down shortly after takeoff from the city of Ahmedabad on its way to London. We'll have more on this story in the next episode of Five Things.

Protests are continuing to flare across the US today, with police working to break up crowds

late into the night.

Parts of downtown L.A. are under curfew again, as demonstrations against President Donald

Trump's immigration policies

and ice raids continue into day seven.

And areas of Spokane and Washington are also under curfew, after protests outside an ice facility

and the mayor declared a state of emergency.

At a press conference last night, Mayor Lisa Brown said there is, quote, tremendous fear

among the immigrant and refugee communities.

My heart goes out to families who are separated or are fearful of what might happen to them

in their workplace or as they proceed about their lives in Spokane.

And things could pick up on Saturday when so-called No King's protests and anti-Trump rallies are scheduled across the country.
