For more than a century, powerful white men at Harvard University brought enslaved black

people to the school's campus, where they enslaved were forced to serve presidents, faculty,

and students.

The enslaved fed generations of these men.

They worked the land that one of the most prestigious colleges in the world sits on today.

A new report released early this week by the university itself shows that Harvard's

ties to slavery go much deeper than it had ever been publicly acknowledged.

And that the school's finances benefited tremendously from the transatlantic slave trade, even

after Massachusetts abolished slavery.

Harvard also acknowledged that faculty, leaders in their fields, push false racist theories

and pseudo-science well into the 19th century that promoted white supremacy and the inferiority

of black people.

Along with the report, the Ivy League institution also announced the creation of a fun to continue

researching its connection to slavery.

Create memorials and curriculum based on the research, make connections with the descendants

of enslaved people, and develop exchange programs with HBCUs.

The school says the recommendations are intentionally broad, as they hope to leave room for future

plans and programs.

Harvard is setting aside $100 million for his effort out of their $53 billion dollar

endowment.

But perhaps most striking from Harvard's public acknowledgement, for me at least, isn't

the institution's connection to slavery or how its wealth and prestige were literally
