FIFA has officially denied Belgium’s appeal to its decision allowing U.S. star Folarin Balogun to play in tonight’s game, despite receiving a red card. In response, Belgium’s football federation put out a pointed critique of how FIFA has mishandled the process. We’ve also heard from the FIFA president, downplaying President Trump’s call to him asking for a review of the red card, and demanding respect for the committee’s decision to allow Balogun on the field tonight.
