Here in Maricopa County, a man named Rick Valentini was sentenced to 22 years in prison

for the murder of his girlfriend, Jamie Lyadie.

The case was built entirely in circumstantial evidence.

At the time of the trial, Jamie's body hadn't been found.

There was no DNA evidence, no fingerprints, and no witnesses, only a long string of clues.

But prosecutors believed they had enough evidence to prove Valentini killed his girlfriend.

Here's what they had.

After Jamie disappeared from Chandler in March of 2010, Valentini starts using her credit

cards and driving her car.

Jamie left all of her belongings behind, including her cell phone, her purse, her passport,

and even her birth control.

Yet, Valentini insisted Jamie left for Colorado to start a new life.

Investigators also discovered that Valentini, a personal trainer, had made disparaging

comments about Jamie, claiming, among other things, that he only stayed with her for

her money.
