in this fallen world that is represented here in 2 Samuel chapter 13 and summarized in verse 20

to and I know a lot of different people of different ages listen to this podcast and so without

going into all the details of what happens in 2 Samuel chapter 13 we see someone in a position

of power do something very hurtful to someone else and in all of this we see an unwillingness

to carry out justice according to God's word so with that summary I can't help but to think about

people who are listening to this podcast who I know in many different ways may have been hurt

by someone else and specifically by someone in a position where they were supposed to be caring for

you they're supposed to be protecting you and sometimes in circumstances like this it seems like

justice is not and may never be carried out but when we read a verse like this a chapter like

this in 2 Samuel chapter 13 we always need to step back and realize yes this is a reality in a

sinful fallen world where people hurt one another and specifically people in positions of power

abuse that power in ways that are hurtful for other people and they ignore justice and justice

seems ignored but the good news of the Bible when you step out from 2 Samuel chapter 13 is that

there is one true God who possesses all power and he will bring about justice in the end and he is

good the one who is omnipotent all powerful is good and loving and kind and just and merciful

and we need all of these things in him we need his goodness and his kindness and his justice and his

mercy in our lives and in the world around us and so I want to lead us to pray and light of the

reality represented here in 2 Samuel chapter 13 and specifically here in verse 20 God we pray

right now for people who are listening to this who have been hurt in many different ways by other

people in unimaginable ways even by other people or another person and maybe even another person

in a position of power or influence over them so God we praise you that you the one who has all
