The text for Pastor John's meditation this morning is taken from the Gospel of Luke,

and I'll be reading verses 14 through 22.

And when the hour came, Jesus sat at table and the Apostles with Him, and he said to them,

I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer. For I tell you I shall not eat it until it is fulfilled

in the kingdom of God. And he took a cup and when he had given thanks he said take this and divide it among yourselves

for I tell you that from now on I shall not drink of the fruit of the vine

until the kingdom of God comes.

And he took the bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them,

saying,

This is my body which is given for you.

Do this in remembrance of me.

And likewise the cup after supper saying,

this cup which is poured out for you is the New covenant in my blood.

But behold, the hand of him who betrays me is with me on the table.

For the son of man goes as it has been determined,

but woe to that man by whom he is betrayed.

I don't think there are any other parts of the Gospels that move me more than the scene of

Ghesemony because they seem to put flesh and blood on one of my favorite verses in the Bible which closes with the phrase,

I live by faith in the son of God who loved me and gave himself for me. I am often more moved by the Last Supper in

Ghesemais than I am by Calvary. I hope that's not bad of me, but when I see the conscious decision of the Lord to move

into Calvary with me on his heart, I am very deeply moved. I want to make a connection for you this morning that enlarges that personal moving dimension of this scene into a worldwide perspective.

I want to do this by going back and taking two or three minutes to recap one of last week's points.
