Summary

Today, people’s interest in the end times seems to be at an all-time high. That concern, however, is not always translated into everyday life. How can we live in light of Christ’s return? In his eight-part series, Until Christ Returns, Dr. Michael Youssef uses the example of the Thessalonians to encourage Christians not to be deterred by persecution, fear, or human pride, but to actively and outwardly serve the living God, confidently awaiting His return even in turbulent times.

My very first serious job, and the first really real job, was back in 1970, and it was in

North Sydney, Australia, north of the city, right across from the Harbor Bridge, and it was in

a telephone exchange, and that telephone exchange was right next door to a courthouse.

Back then, most of the guys who worked with in the telephone exchange took the lunch hour

and went to the pub.

Well, there was only one other guy and myself that we ended up alone in the cafeteria,

kind of munching on our sandwich and talking.

And then one day he came up with a great idea.

He said, why don't we take our lunches and go across the street to the courthouse to watch the proceedings?

I said, what a great way of spending a lunch hour.

So we did go across the street and sat in the gallery and watched as the solicitors, they call them, you know,

coming in and their black robes and their wigs and this very impressive sight.

And then the crowns prosecutor and the policeman and the prisoners.

And they're coming and going and the hustle and the bustle.

And when the court is ready, the judge door was open.

And when he entered in, everything became very solemn.

And I remember clearly those many years ago, as we looked from the gallery into the proceedings that are going on in the court,

eating our lunch, feeding our faces, not concerned at all, but what the tension that was there,

and there was a lot of tension, and you can feel it, but for us, there was no tension, no fear,

nothing worrying us at all. We can look

straight into the judge's eye and with boldness and no concern. Why? Our names are not in the

dockets for that case. We were not in the prisoner's seat. We're not accused. Well, in our accusation
