Every job has a purpose.

Sometimes it might not feel that way, but whether you're sitting at a computer,

working on an assembly line or conducting research in a lab, we're all

contributing to the world around us. But while some jobs are relatively low stakes, others

put people in harm's way on a daily basis. Karen Silkwood was one of those people. In the early 1970s, Karen started working at a nuclear power plant in Oklahoma.

Although she knew her job was important, she didn't know it was lethal too.

When she learned the real dangers associated with nuclear energy,

she decided to fight for her safety and the safety of her coworkers.

But in an attempt to save lives,

Karen made some very powerful enemies,

and they were willing to do anything to stop her.
