There are some characters on TV that you feel like you just know. They seem so approachable,

so authentic. It feels like you've been friends with them your whole life.

Robert Hogan was one of those characters.

As the main character in the show, Hogan's Heroes,

he was kind, clever, and charming,

and the actor who played him, Bob Crane,

seemed to be the same way.

In interviews, Bob came across as the perfect family man, a caring husband and father of

three who would rather be in bed by 10 than spend the night on the town.

But when the cameras stopped rolling, Bob was a very different person, one with dark secrets,

and in the end, they may have gotten him killed.

People's lives are like stories, with a beginning, a middle, and an end. But sometimes the final chapter comes far too soon, and we don't always get to know the

real ending.
