Quick word of warning about the content of this episode. Although we don't go into graphic or unnecessary detail,

we do discuss the crimes of some sexual predators who preyed upon children. Leanna Warner was last

seen alive on June 14, 2003. She was just five years old and a native of Chisholm, Minnesota,

a small town with a population just shy of 5,000 people.

By and large, Chisholm is a safe place. For example, it's not unusual for the town to go for more than a

decade without seeing a single homicide. So not highly experienced officers when it comes to the investigation?

Perhaps not, but that's not what I was trying to say.

And they did bring in help from outside agencies and sources.

So it wasn't like the local police were the only ones investigating this.

But yes, it was an unusual crime for the area, which is what I was intending to emphasize.

So it was a place where Leanna's parents, Kalyn and Chris, who was a local firefighter, probably

felt safe raising their four children, including the youngest Leanna.

On the day of Leanna's disappearance, her mom took her to a nearby lake, where they spent

hours enjoying a beautiful summer day by the water. By the time they arrived home, Leanna was tired
