Summary

In this week's unscripted episode, we'll be discussing why there are unscripted episodes at all, we'll be answering History of the World podcast illuminati member, Corben Havener's question about when prehistoric tribes became big enough that not all individual members could know all others, and we'll be looking ahead at the final episodes of our journey through medieval Europe.

The History of the World Podcast, written and presented by Chris Hasler. This is the History of the World Podcast Unscripted. Oh, you know, you know. Now, the Hello everyone this is Chris from the History of the World Podcast and this is an unscripted episode. We normally do this

0:56.0

when we're taking a short break from publishing full episodes and unfortunately I know I think everyone gets a bit disappointed when I'm not publishing full episodes,

1:07.0

but the reality is that when I do have other things that I need to deal with, it can hold me back in the writing and publication

1:18.4

and recording of episodes. So I apologize for that. so I suppose the issue for me really is that at the moment I would say the average

1:30.2

amount of time it takes me to write an episode is just over a week so inevitably I

1:36.3

start slipping behind so when I was doing a lot of unscripted episodes in the

1:40.6

summer while I was doing those I was still writing and I actually got myself

1:46.8

maybe about five or six episodes ahead.

1:50.6

When I started recording I would sort of gradually sort of slip behind on that until I almost caught up with myself.

2:00.4

So it is quite taxing to write an episode a week. I never want to dumb down on the

2:08.7

quality. One of the solutions could be to start publishing episodes fortnightly, but then I know that by doing

2:18.7

that it would really slow down the pace of the podcast and it would take a long time for me to get to the end of the project,

2:25.8

which I'm very keen to do. I'm very keen to get volume four finished and then get into

2:31.2

volumes five, six and 7, which will bring us up to the present day.

2:38.0

But having said that, I really don't want to consider going fortnightly. I want to

2:46.4

continue trying to publish weekly, but I think one of the side effects of that

2:51.8

is that there are going to be

2:54.0

unscripted episode periods as well interspersed in with the main bulk of the project

3:00.0

so but this one is not going to be nearly as long as the one I took in the summer.

3:05.7

It may be two or three weeks and then I want to get back into it again.

3:09.6

So the next episode, the next full episode will either be over Christmas or certainly at the start of

3:16.0

new year so don't worry we're not really going to be taken a long two or three month
