Oh, you know. Hello everyone this is Chris from the History of the World Podcast and we're here with another unscripted

episode because we're waiting for new episodes to come out. We're just

writing them as we speak and they're in the pipeline so it won't be long before we

start publishing those but in the meantime we're publishing a few episodes of

unscripted podcasts just to let you know that we're still here and we haven't sort of disappeared off the face of the earth

But normally what I do when I have

Unscripted episode sessions.

I'll make some of them topic related and I haven't done that too much on this occasion.

Just basically I didn't really know how long the break was going to be for

but I did want to speak today about a character that's always fascinated me

in relation to the Norman conquest of England and all of the politics that led up to it.

And of course, when William the Conqueror won the Battle of Hastings and effectively wiped out the Godwin line,

there was one brother who was not among the Godwins, Harold Godwinsons, Brethren,

all the sons of Earl Godwin of Wessex and his name was Tostig and Tostig's fortunes

took him in a completely different direction. His story is unique and I just wanted to

explore that today just because Pearly I find Tost in quite a fascinating character in a very interesting political situation that developed in England at that time.
