Welcome to the History of the World Podcast.

My name is Chris. And this is the history of the world unscripted. Oh, Last week on the History of the World Podcast, we finished the prehistoric volume of

podcasts, so we had a 24 podcast run where we introduced the Paleolithic and the Neolithic before reaching a point

around about 3,000 b.c. E. where we're now going to cross over into the ancient cultures and that will bring us into a completely

new and fresh volume of podcasts. So there will be around about 30 podcasts in volume too so a little bit longer than the first volume

because there's a lot to fit in and I'm going to tell you a little bit about some of the material that we've got

coming up in volume to the ancient world. Now when we talk about the ancient world we talk about a period of time from around

about 3,000 B.C. and we'll probably go up to around about 700 B.C.E. as a rough idea of where we're going. Now there are going to be two areas of the world

that are going to be absolutely fundamental to the backbone of the ancient period.

And we set those up in the last two proper podcasts of the prehistoric world,

those being podcasts episodes 22 and 23. So the last two before we

summarized at the end. One of them was Mesopotamia, so episode 22 was around Mesopotamia.
