Chris Hasler your host every week as ever and at the moment we're between volumes

Volume 3 has finished and we're planning the start of volume 4 later in the year

But as usual while we're between volumes we always make a

weekly broadcast where I just basically make make it up as I go along that's the best

way to describe it and I was thinking about what to

talk about this week and there is plenty to talk about generally speaking over

the next few weeks and not least of all the material that's

coming up in volume four but I thought this week that we might revisit

something that we brought up during volume three but we didn't really

follow through on and it relates to something that's going on at the moment of

course with the COVID-19 pandemic, a lot of sporting events were postponed and in some cases we didn't

actually even know if they were ever going to take place.

But you know, it's an absolute pleasure to be able to

see that the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games have kicked off. I'm a huge fan of the Olympics I absolutely love it and so you know when they were

Postbone last year I was you know, I was quite I was upset about that as many other people were. However, obviously the Olympic

tradition is something that reaches back to the period of time that we were discussing in our last volume,

volume three the classical world and of course the Olympic Games find their

home their traditional home in ancient Greece and we're going to talk a little bit more

about that this week just as an unofficial episode we're going to discuss the ancient Olympic Games and what

became of them you know that's that's probably the most interesting thing for me is
