This is the Jocco unraveling podcast number 31 with Daryl Cooper and myself, Jocco Willink.

We did a recent podcast about the events that are unfolding

between Russia and Ukraine.

Possible war. I know I was leaning towards war was happening.

I thought that the Russians were going to invade you did not think they were going to invade.

It's currently the, what is it?

The 17th of February 2022 and we didn't bet any money on it and we still don't know who would have win one the bet.

But it's changed a lot. It's been changing almost every couple days whether people think there's going to be invasion or not.

I'm still not sure. I would say right now it's leaning in your direction for a few days.

I actually sent you a text with some headlines saying hey, I think I was right on this one as troops mounted and

looked like the invasion was imminent and now in the past couple days, it's kind of reverse course a little bit and it sounds like maybe

the invasion is not imminent. But here we are looking at what's going on with Russia, with the Ukraine, us being at odds with Russia,

which is a strange thing to contemplate when you consider that in World War II, we were allies and we fought against an enemy, the Nazis.

We were had to be so thankful for the Russians, for their ability to fight for them to have the Eastern Front,

which took all kinds of troops and cost the Nazis a lot to go and fight and lose and allowed us to do better on the Western Front.

And so you would think that after that war, this group of allies, including us and the Soviet Union and Britain,

we would all kind of high-five and be joyous and be thankful and carry on in a cooperative way to solve other world problems.

I mean, if we could join hands and join forces to defeat the Nazis, what else can we, what other problems in the world can we handle?

That's a big problem. We all handled it together.

Instead, that didn't happen. Instead, we ended up at odds with the Soviet Union, we ended up in the Cold War, which was fought in many proxy wars around the world between us and the Soviet Union.

But let's talk about how that happens. We can get a better perspective of what's going on with Russia today.

We did a couple episodes in the past that kind of helped build up to this moment. We did the one on Joe McCarthy and the Red Scare, the late 40s and early 50s, to kind of set the scene for what it is that people like Joe McCarthy and the real anti-communists that were coming at that time.
