When the Office of Personnel Management, the government's HR office sent buyout offers to hundreds of thousands of government employees a couple weeks ago, this was a big deal.

Not just because it ostensibly came at the direction of billionaire Elon Musk with the blessing of President Trump, not just because 75,000 government workers took the deal.
