I know a lot of you had problems with Pope Francis.

I know others of you have problems with Pope Benedict and Pope John Paul II and Vatican

too.

Well, I'm taking it all on because he was a valid successor of Pope Peter.

And now I am.

And so I'm standing in this tradition.

My name is Mike Gomer Gormley, and I am joined today,

as always, by Dave the disarming Charmer Van Vickle. How you doing, Dave? Good. I see her quoting Pope

Leo. Indeed, I am. So we are starting a series, well, we started it last week, of reflecting on the new American Pope America, baby.

It's winning. It's just too much winning.

Huge. This is huge.

But no, we are celebrating the American Pope, Pope Leo, and we're going through some of his writings.

I thought it would be really cool to get a sampling of his writings to kind of understand, not just to understand the man, but to understand him as Pope, right? We're not

journalists. We're not going to go and investigate like, oh, we're going to call him people from

Peru. Like, that's not what this show is about. We're going to look at the text, the speeches,

the homilies, whatever, of Pope Leo. And I think it's cool to

start fresh and try to like, you know, as a Catholic, keep up with the guy. Keep up with some

of the stuff that he's saying and doing. Yeah, it's been a long time since I've tried to keep up,

to be honest with you. Yeah, because there's such a volume of stuff. Like, right now, there's hundreds of things on the Vatican's website of all the stuff that he's said and done.

But I have gone through and I've pulled out a small selection of, I think I have one speech, one homily, one letter, and one message.
