I know. It is like that i'm being

sworn in on january the ninth january the ninth wonderful so we're catching you before life changes

and you're officially an elected official i'd like to tell the audience a bit before we get talking on

how i found out about you what's wonderful is when you find out about someone and you have a podcast

you can just reach out to them and get them on the show. And that's what we had a rather quick process of

doing that. So I was reading, as many people are want to read, Governing Magazine, the popular

magazine on coffee tables across America. There we got. And an article came up, newly elected

Democratic Socialists bring new ideas on affordable housing. And then I see

this quote from one Von Stewart, you, quote, this is a perfect example of where unfettered capitalism

has failed us, talking about housing. At the end of the day, when the motive of landlords and

developers is to make a dollar, that means their primary goal is not to put a roof over people's heads.

I go, this doesn't sound like a normal politician here. This is someone who's really telling

it like it is. The article goes on to say, you're bringing new ideas like a state trust fund

for social housing, a public option for housing. You found out about this because of

Matt Brunig's People's Policy

Project. The quote didn't make it into the article, but the author tweeted out that you gave the

quote, when you elect millennial lefty, quote, very online people to office. Don't be surprised

when they use those sources to craft their legislative agenda. I think there's actually a lot to gain from using lefty thinkers on Twitter.

And I said, we got to get this guy on the show. I geek out on the process of how like new policies move into the discourse and new types of people with new confidences in talking about things that were outside of the Overton window before
