Hi, everybody. Welcome to the Mormon newscast. It is Monday night, 6 p.m. Mountain Time, and it is January 12, 2026. I have to give a birthday shout out to my Mormonish co-host, Landon. It is his birthday. If you see him, wish him a happy birthday. It's also my dad's birthday. He's passed away a couple years ago, but happy birthday, dad. I am joined this evening by my wonderful co-hosts, Radio Free Mormon, and Bill Real. Do either of you know someone who has a birthday today? No. Of course, now if I do, then I'm really going to get in trouble. And I just forgot. Thank you, Rebecca. Yeah, I feel like I outed you, and I'm really sorry. I think you should do this. Happy birthday. You know who you are, right? That kind of covers. You're so clever. No, I'm diabolical. I am. Anyway, welcome to the newscast, everybody. This is our second broadcast in 26, and every week so far has just been jam-packed with things that have happened. So much news that we've had to like cut stories and leave them on the cutting room floor. But we think that we're bringing you the curated stories that are the most important this week. And there have been quite a bit. So let's pull up the slides. And I will let you guys know what we're going to be talking about tonight. It's called Unlock Your Loins. It is. And I'll tell you that I, that was me. There's a particular story that Bill's going to be covering that really got to me. And I have to admit that I was running around the house yelling. It used to be lock up your heart. Now it's unlock your loins. So when I mentioned that to Bill and RFM, somehow my words ended up on the thumbnail,

1:30.5

but I think it looks fantastic and it really does kind of represent how I feel about this.

1:35.8

It sounds too crazy to actually be true, Rebecca.

1:39.2

Well, yes, and I'll get into this.

1:41.5

But yes, when I first read that, I actually believed it was from the Lord's Newsroom or some kind of a joke when we get to Bill's story. And this story, of course, is our number one story, Elder Oak's Marriage Hopes for Young Latter-day Saints. And I did think it was a joke, which tells me what my gut feels about this, how strongly. We're also going to be covering the shooting at the LDS

2:01.4

funeral that kills two. We're going to be covering Uchtdorf's back baby. The Silver Fox Rizes again.

2:08.7

I'll be covering that. RFM will be covering the shooting story. We'll also be talking about

2:12.8

lewd sexual acts on LDS property. I will be taking that story. And end to Temple Square

2:19.2

missions. I will also be talking about that. And a church activity lawsuit, meaning a lawsuit

2:25.8

because of something that happened at a church activity. And it's an update on that.

2:30.0

And RFM will be covering that. So involving a boy losing his foot.

2:34.0

Involving a little boy losing his foot, a very tragic event.

2:37.1

So let's get right to it with Bill and our number one story about Elder Oaks' opinion of what your young adult children should be doing.

2:46.0

I got to agree with you, Rebecca.

2:47.3

This is so strange, and I think folks will see it immediately in the quote.

2:50.3

And it's for a double-fold reason. One is so strange, and I think folks will see it immediately in the quote. And it's for

2:50.8

a double-fold reason. One is that there's this unhealthy thing the church does. And then it's the way

2:56.8

Elder Oaks articulated this. So Salt Lake Tribune, this was covered in a few different places.

3:02.9

Salt Lake Tribune is the image that I grabbed just to show the viewers where it showed up in the news.

3:10.1

Salt Lake Tribune, LDS Church President, Dallin Oaks, hopes lower missionary ages will lead

3:15.7

to lower marriages ages.

3:18.5

And this was in the Salt Lake Tribune on January 11th, Peggy Fletcher Stack and David Noyneux, headed up this article. And in this was an
