When Jesus began his earthly ministry, he began with an opening phrase,

the kingdom of God is at hand.

All throughout his ministry, he kept talking about this kingdom, this place of divine

jurisdiction. The reason why Jesus taught them about the kingdom of God

so that they would teach us about the kingdom of God

is so that we would understand the governance of God's jurisdiction,

God's rule, so that when errant thinking, errant ideas,

errant philosophies, social orientation,

when errant things come in,

we understand what the rules of the house are, the rules, the jurisdiction of the kingdom.

Because there is a competing kingdom.

The Bible says we have been transferred out of the kingdom of darkness

into the kingdom of his dear son.
