norm in a country that was defined from settlement, slavery, and revolution through Western

expansion and Indian removal to Chinese exclusion and the National Origins Quota Act by

white settler colonialist empire. We like to think of slavery and native genocide as heirs made in our country's long,

preordained, and redemptive march to a more perfect union.
