Hey, welcome back to another bald movie. This time Jim and I are reaching way back into the archives almost 20 years for

1992's Universal Soldier. This is I don't think it's the day's 20 years well more than 20

I'm almost said I meant to say almost 30 years. I almost said the right thing and then I decided not to

got to stick with the brand. This is not the directorial debut but just about for one Roland Emmerich who will go on to bigger and

bigger blockbuster budgets and along with his writing partner Dean Devlin this is

their first team up.

It's also features Dolph Lundgren.

It stars Jean-Claude Van Dam.

It stars Ali Walker, which we're going to talk about in a bit. I have a soft spot for this film because of something

me and a good buddy of mine who I've referred to from time to time as Jonesy on the podcast.

It was his favorite movie of all time and we probably

watched it once a week for an entire summer back in like maybe 94 or 95. So I have a lot of fond memories. To me this is kind of like one of the last

gasps of the the 80s action movie genre where you know by the end of the 90s early 2000s like you things had to make more sense to be successful

yeah I could I couldn't have a watching this thinking man it must have been so easy to write movies in the 90s

like early 90s late 80s because technology was fantastic and as possibility but people didn't

understand its limitations so sure like super cool some soldiers

you're good to go Jim what did you think of this movie since the first time I've seen this

movie mmm so really certainly all the way through So this is the first time I've seen this movie. Really?

Certainly all the way through.

Parts of it seemed familiar, like that fight near the end at the farmhouse,

out near the barn, seemed familiar to me.

That's just because Van Dam solves every problem with kickboxing.
