Unionized Boeing workers could strike tonight.

For marketplace in Los Angeles, I'm Nova Safo in for David Brancaccio.

Boeing and the union representing 33,000 of its workers reached a tentative labor deal over the weekend, now the

rank and file appear ready to reject that deal.

The vote is today, and many workers have been expressing frustration this week over the contract's terms.

They could also vote to go on strike at midnight.

Hey, Nova, good morning.

This contract would boost Boeing Machinist's wages

by 25% over the next four years.

The company would also contribute more

to workers 401k plans,

and they would commit to building their next new airplane in the Puget Sound region

where these workers are based. Union negotiators called this the best agreement they've

reached in their history, but many in the rank and file are not happy with it.

Some have been using their breaks to march through Boeing factories this week.

They're calling for a strike.

Workers were pushing for a 40% pay boost and they wanted to get

traditional pension plans again which they lost

about a decade ago. The union's leader has said he thinks workers may very well

reject the deal today. And if that happens Henry, presumably that would be quite costly for Boeing.
