Summary

Parenting alongside your husband can sometimes feel overwhelming. We want to be intentional, but it can seem like we have wildly different plans than our spouses! In this episode, Emily and Laura give a nod to Valentine's Day by diving into a marriage topic: unity with our husbands. Even though we have differences, God has joined us in marriage for his mission in our homes and has equipped us to do it together. Through Christ's perfect record, we can humbly forgive one another, refocus on our mission, and live in unity with our husbands every day.

Well, welcome back to another episode of Risen Motherhood. I'm Emily here with my sister

0:41.5

in law, Laura. And it's Valentine's Day when the show is coming out. So, yeah, we felt

0:48.8

like with Valentine's Day, we wanted to do a show that has to do with marriage and husbands,

0:56.2

because that's usually what's on our mind on Valentine's Day. That's right. And we get

1:01.5

asked a lot of questions about marriage. I mean, marriage in the little years is hard.

1:05.5

And so, these shows are fun to do, but, you know, no, that we're in the midst of all of

1:10.7

this with you guys trying to figure it out. So, I was reading a book on parenting the

1:14.8

other day, and there were so many wonderful ideas inside. They were very practical ideas

1:19.5

and some like heart issue ideas. But by the time I got to chapter three or four, I just

1:24.2

started feeling really anxious about how much I wasn't doing. And quite honestly, I started

1:28.4

thinking about how much my husband wasn't doing. And immediately I felt like, we need to

1:32.5

talk. We need to get on the same page. We need to get unified on this stuff. And we don't

1:36.0

have any time left to shape our children's character. The time is going by way too fast.

1:40.0

And it was just funny. That wasn't the author's intention at all. But I think it goes to

1:44.5

show just how intentional parenting can quickly start to feel very overwhelming. And we can

1:49.9

kind of look to our husbands and expect them to, I don't know, there can just be a lot

1:54.7

of thin issues that come up between those things. But the great thing is that God has called
