In scripture, we read about a woman who reached out and grasped Jesus's garment.

Jesus asked the crowd, who touched me?

Of the things we know about the woman is that she was persistent, desperate, and that

that one touch changed her life forever.

Today, author J.D. King is sharing a short story with us that's similar, but way closer

to home.

It's about his own wife, desperate, desiring nothing more than to be a mother, but all the signs pointing

to it being impossible.

In the book, Mighty Like Gideon, I love to tell a lot of stories.

I think one of my favorite stories is a story of my wife and I.

We got married and wanted to have a baby.

That's natural. You want to have a family. God puts that in our hearts to want to have kids and have this great life. And my wife had always worked well with children, helping in foster care and other things. And it was always understood that we were going to have children. So we set out to have babies and we started hitting problems. And we went to the doctor and

tried to get an assessment of what all was going on. And the doctors found out that my wife had

endometriosis. This is this disease that begins to close off the fallopian tubes. And this is this

tough moment here. You're like, oh no, we we're going to have a challenge, having a child.

So we went in and got some medical help. We took, did some treatments, took some certain medicines.

I was trying to get the help from the doctors to have a child.

And we did these for several months, trying to do everything we could to have a baby.

And nothing was happening, nothing was working,

and stuff, you're praying, you're believing, you're expecting these good things and suddenly
