A few weeks ago, I had a chance to interview a woman named Megan Nilsson.

After years of wondering if adoption was right for Megan and her family, one day she felt

a leading from God to push her whole agenda aside, to go home and fast and pray. She spent

time in her Bible to learn about what God's word says about the topic. Ultimately, she and her

family did adopt, but what unfolded after her yes was a season of difficulty. But the entirety

of Megan's adoption journey has been filled with moments where God's call and his presence in the

day today was very clear. When my husband and I got married and we had a couple of kids,

a very common question from

most people would be, are you done having kids?

Will you have more?

And for a while, I would think, I think we're done having kids, but you never know.

If we would, we might adopt.

And I would say that year after year when anybody would ask me if I was thinking of having

more kids. And then there

was a summer about 12 years ago when I couldn't get this thought out of my mind. I was thinking,

okay, God, you put adoption on our heart for some reason. And I don't know if we're really ready

to step into blending our family in that way.

And I would pray about it often enough.

And I would think, okay, God, please heal so-and-so and help me make this direction, figure out this choice.
