For El Cardell, that stillness began with the name, Sayla.

We had this name for her picked out long before her diagnosis,

inspired by Psalm 4610, which tells us to be still and know that I am God.

We find a charge directly after that says Sayla.

That word Selah became both anchor and anthem for El Cardell.

And that word is right where her story starts.

My name is El Cardell.

I am the founder of the online women's ministry, daughter of delight,

an author of She Delights, cultivating a heart of joy for the one who reigns and sustains,

and this is part of my story. My firstborn, Sayla, was born with a single ventricle heart.

A normal heart has two ventricles, so for her, she would have one ventricle doing the work of two.

This was very unexpected news, especially as a first-time mom, and it totally wrecked me. In fact, at this appointment, the weekend that was upcoming, that same week was our gender reveal party, and I decided to cancel it because I knew that I would need time to not grieve her life, but grieve

the diagnosis that was totally unexpected. So I asked the sonographer if she could tell me what it

was, and she told my husband and I that we would be having a beautiful baby girl. What's really
