My husband, John, and I woke up like any other Tuesday morning, and he looked like the

picture of health himself.

Everything was fine until he called me upstairs that morning.

He took my hand and he laid my finger on a lump that he had found in his mouth.

And the moment I felt it my heart sank.

We did not wake up that morning with the expectation that he was going to be getting a biopsy

and a CT scan to find out what the rest of our lives would look like. They took the images and they

called us in the next day to discuss what those images revealed. And they said, well, yes, it is about a

three and a half centimeter mass and it also appears to be some necrosis of lymph nodes.

They said the needle prick biopsy appear to reveal that it's a form of lymphoma, but we do need to do some further testing.

And we tried to rep our mind around some level of hope.

Well, if it is a lymphoma, at least that's a treatable form.

If you're going to have cancer, that's the family of cancers that you would hope it would be.

In fact, his brother had survived a form of lymphoma.

By the day that he had received

the surgical biopsy, it more than doubled in size and was wrapping around his jaw. They told us

what you have going on right here, barks like a dog, quacks like a duck, and has gills like a fish.
