Unfictional is KCRW's program of stories and originalaries, and on this episode, three stories from the 2013

edition of Unfictional Live, from the Moss Theater at New Road School in Santa Monica,

last year we took this program out of the studio and

paraded it before a live audience for the first time ever with stories of birth, family,

and death. Beginning with unfictional favorite Carlos Kotkin,

he's the Michael Jordan of storytelling,

having won the moth storytelling slams countless times.

He's an author and a screenwriter, his early stories on this program focused on his unlucky

dating life, but that's all changed these days. From KCRW and KCRW.com, it's unfictional.

Earlier this year on February 6, my wife found out

that she was pregnant with our first child.

She found this out a few hours after she found out that she had lost her job.

So when she got home that night and I asked her, how was your day day honey? She had a lot to tell me.

This was something that we had been hoping for for a long time so she was happy but she was she was

also concerned because I'm a writer and now suddenly both of us were unemployed.

We were going to have an unemployed baby and I gave her a hug and I told her that

everything would be fine everything would work out and and it did. A few weeks later, she got a new job. Right around

the time she started vomiting every morning. I thought it was great when she started throwing

up. I loved it, because it was like a real pregnancy.

I told her, this is exciting, I've only seen this in the movies.
