Mark chapter 4. We're going to jump right in. And we're staying right in the theme of being set to

the city talking about the vision of our church for 2016-17.

Mark chapter 4 reading from the message translation.

It says, then Jesus said, he's been talking for a while about sowing and parable of the sower.

Right before this, by the way, if you've grown up in church, is where we got this little light of mine. Anybody remember that song? Hide it under a bush? Oh no, I'm going to let it shine.

So that has just happened. And now Jesus is talking about a farmer. And he says, then Jesus said,

God's kingdom is like, well, it's like seed thrown on a field by a man who then goes to bed and forgets about it.

The seed sprouts and it grows and he has no idea how it even happens.

The earth does it all without his help.

First a green stem of grass, then a bud, then the ripened grain.

When the grain is fully formed, he reaps, come on, somebody, it's harvest time.

How can we picture God's kingdom?

What kind of story can we use?

It's like a pine nut.

When it lands on the ground, it is quite small as seeds go, yet once it is planted, it grows into a huge pine tree with thick branches and eagles can find a nest in it.

Starts as a seed, grows big, and now eagles find a nest in this luxurious tree that was once the form of a seat.

I want to talk today, and you can title this morning's message, it's called

Unexplainable. I want to preach today about God doing things in your life that's unexplainable.

Things that are so powerful, things that are so magnanimous, things that are so

wonderful that you can't take the credit for it. In fact, you don't even know how this happened.
